This site is created as a resource to the athletes so they can get information about their season, but also as a resource to the parents so they can learn about cross country and learn how they can get involved. Our team benefits proportionally to the amount of involvement by the parents.
Special Note to Parents and Athletes
Cross Country is a physically demanding sport that often results in muscle soreness, fatigue, and (on occasion) inflammed tendons and/or shins. This is due to nature of the sport in that it is roughly a 3 mile race of multiple terrain. Rest and proper nutrition is a essential to keeping peak physical condition, but so is how to treat ones aches and pains. With soreness and inflammed shins, ankles, or knees, icing for 15 minutes is always a good thing. It reduces swelling, inflammation, and soreness. Another thing that can affect this is the shoes. Are they new and have good support? Or are they old and the supports have broken down? Often, shin pain stems from a breakdown in the shoe. Athletes are encouraged to ask any of the coaches and/or the trainer in regards to any of these things.
